Hibernation

Hibernation IS?
HOW some animals prepare for it?
WHY animals hibernate?

Thinking About the War

Next Monday is ANZAC Day
A day to remember... people that died in the great wars
It is not a day of celebration
It is a day of remembrance and commemoration
This year is a special one because... it is a 100 years since the beginning of World War I

Look through these images of World War I and II

Then go to the shared padlet and contribute to the word wall of ideas

Write words that describe the ideas that you have from viewing the slideshow of war images. Include: people's thoughts, feelings, what you can see, smell, hear, how many, size, doing texture...

Monday Writing

Describe a moment in slowmotion
Think of a memory (good or bad) and slow it down in your mind so that you can describe it in detail.

Consider:  thoughts, feelings. the anticipation, the sound, what you see

Here are a few video clips to get you thinking.
You could use one of them as the basis for your writing.
Look really carefully at what happens in each video.  What things do you notice that you eye does not normally see?

Human Statistics

Here is a way to do statistics - run around - and make a movie at the same time.

We made a set of different lines - like bar graphs - to show some information about our class.

Graphs
Boys vs Girls
Eye Colour: Brown, Blue, Green (other)
Hair Colour: Black, Brown, Blond and Red

By moving around this activity is more memorable and fun.
At the end we made a Human Pie Chart showing class Hair Colour then wriggled away like caterpillars!

If you watch closely you should be able to spot which graph is which?

Can you make a statement about the information these human graphs show?

Here are some photographs of the graphs to help you visualize what we are trying to show.

Determination

What is determination?

What does it look like, sound like, feel like?

How do you know when someone is being DETERMINED?

Take a look at this video of a very determined squirrel -
the squirrel wanted to snack on the nuts and used determination to try again and again to find a way to succeed!

Use your thinking about this idea to illustrate the word DETERMINATION in your Learning Journal.

Use a full page - landscape or portrait - use pictures, colour, bold lettering

Make your work Spectacular

Use images and words of when you have been determined.
